I'll be patching a mic into my Red Epic for the first time since 2013 and I'll be damned if I can't get any sort of level unless I scream into the mic, an deven then it barely registers.

I'm using a Rode shotgun, Phanton Power is set to 48V, and inputting it into Change 1. Source is "CAM ANALOG" and Pre-Amp gain levels are cranked all the way up.

This is just wild audio for a music video we are shooting this weekend and we simply need reference audio to synch later, so it doesn't have to be stellar. Just need audio with a decent level for these guys to edit with.

Can anybody please help me understand what is going wrong here.

Seems the issue was using stereo mini-jacks. Using mono-adapters fixed the problem. Guitar Center saved the day.

The wiring is sub-standard and the jacks themselves have a hard time keeping in some plugs. Maybe that's just the mono issue, but I've had vastly different experiences with many different cables and mics.

Thanks Justin. This is one of those rare instances where I need to capture audio on-camera. The mono plugs fine.
