Everyone that I know that saw the phone and the holograms in person really liked it... but there are probably a lot more people who read the dumbass Verge review by the clueless bonehead who didn't know what it was or what "alpha" means and just formed their opinion based on that.

Not that it would probably have made that much of a difference in the long run most likely, since there really wasn't anyone in a position to succeed Jim Jannard when he decided to retire, unfortunately.

And frankly I think for the Hydrogen to have been truly successful, it would have required Jim and his crew to keep at it for at least one more generation, possibly two, along with Leia getting its screens into more devices. That was IMO the real killer; with the Hydrogen being the only device that could show the no-glasses 3D, the people seeing it in person is a small blip in the world of cell phones due to volumes.

Launching a new phone brand is tough. I do think that Jim and company could have pulled it off had he decided to keep going and while I do wish that he HAD chosen to keep going, he's spearheaded lots of great stuff at Red, so he's certainly earned it.

... which means that the Hydrogen being way behind on security updates probably still puts it well ahead of Apple. ;)

Of course I am. Apple's notorious for ignoring security holes in its software. It's about time it got serious about patching them...

The fans are, of course, in denial... but reality doesn't change to support the RDF...

Do you have anything to back these claims? Just about every article I can find states the contrary. Here's just one example:

It's not a claim, it's reality. Here's just one example:

Of course neither iOS or Android are completely immune to security issues and itís easy to cite anecdotal evidence. Hereís a similar issue with Android also reported on Ars Technica: https://arstechnica.com/information-...-phones/?amp=1

It seems that the general consensus though (based on the half dozen or so comparisons that Iíve perused) is that iOS is currently more secure with Android making strides to narrow the gap.
