Definitely want to hear more about Red support and how the 8k playback strides may be at play with this machine.

It looks great. It's been a while since Apple has produced something I'm this excited about. Shame on the $1,000 monitor stand though. That was a low-blow. Lol

I'm sure Red will support the Afterburner card. It's meant to handle Prores RAW, which AFIK is similar to R3D in many ways.

I’m assuming RED will make use of the Afterburner card in the same way they use the RT Cores in Nvidia systems. This will probably do the heavy lifting.

In some ways it blows my mind that Apple created this just so it could bypass putting Nvidia cards in its system, and in other ways it shows that Apple is very serious about investing in new tech for its Pro market.

Curious for real-world demos on R3D files.

I wonder what these are for?

Looks like 2x SATA, 1 USB-A, and a power connection?

Maybe there will be a cage for a couple 2.5mm drives?

Is the Afterburner a standard in this Mac pro? Or is it an addon?
It kinda seems like a step backward to have a dedicated hardware as opposed to having a GPU do it (kinda like the old days of a red rocket x)...at least with GPU you can increase speed as technology advances....

It will be an optional purchase.

I think it's great because not everyone needs it. This really is the most customizable Mac ever.

I'm just scared how much those dual graphics cards will be.

Internal USB-A is common on workstation motherboards. Important for dongles and other things you don't want someone to just remove. SATA and power for internal drive expansion or for an alternate I/O expansion card than what comes with it.
