For those who missed my lens testing presentation during NAB at the Sigma booth, here's some of the footage showing off the three newest members of the Sigma Cine prime series.

Though I own and tested most of these during the last SALT test, I got real curious how the newer 28mm, 40mm, and 105mm T1.5 primes played with the rest of the set.

Roger Cicala's test show that they are very good (better than the old ones from an MTF standpoint).

I would say they are pretty darn close. There's a bit of variance, but nothing I'd freak out about. That's sort of the purpose of this test, to see how they cut together back to back.

Gotcha - did you already grade out the differences in your test? Or are these straight-out-of-the-cam dailies?

White balanced to chart, consistent settings for each lens from there, custom LUT/Output Transform.

That also is one of the fun questions these days regarding lens tests with IPP2. Output Tone Map: Low, Medium, Hard? Highlight Roll-Off Very Soft, Soft, Medium, Hard?

For a long while I pushed out everything Medium/Medium. Lately a bit more Low/Soft. This is closest to that.

I both like and dislike there isn't an enforced one way for say a standard Rec.709 output these days. It adds variety however lacks control for longer term testing.

But the clear thing is IPP2 provides the best color workflow for a variety of reasons. For a test like this however I would never do individual clip grading it anything super advanced. It's got to be a straight output for a lens test to some degree.

Cool test, Phil. I love the Sigmas. I'm still on a Scarlet-W, and have the 20-85 set. I'm debating whether I want to get a Gemini or get a 14mm. I know its' cheaper to get the 14mm...but still.

I've always loved the ART series bokeh penumbra. Already own a set of CN-Es, but was thinking of changing them out to these.

Would it be recommended to do that? Or are the CN-Es better?
