    RED Ranger - Low Light and Exposure Recovery test

    This is the camera test of the RED Ranger with the Monstro VV 8K sensor. For these tests, we go through all of the ISOs from 250 up to 12800. As well as testing exposure recovery when under and overexposing the footage 5 stops. If you want to learn more about the camera check out the other videos below!

    Really dig the way they did that Over/Under test -- showing the under/over shot, correct exposure, and then corrected-under/over shot in a split screen rather than back to back clips.

    Mike,

    Yeah, I liked that he didn't just show what they looked like under and over exposed but how they looked recovered. I still think he could have gotten better results from the +4 and +5 overexposed shots.

    As many folks know I am not a huge fan of the RED image, but that is a really well designed camera. Too bad the Ranger is not the standard vs the exception. I think the latest generation (Monstro, Helium, Gemini) are a big step up from previous iterations, but in my opinion the Ranger is really the kind of camera that RED needs to be building for the future. It is a complete package and rugged in a way that is very reassuring for pro operations. It seems like something that one would have faith investing in. Thanks for the great reviews and thorough presentations !

    Thanks C. Burkhart, maybe the new DSMC3 bodies will be more like the Ranger with better integration of the individual modules
