Anyone have experience with this lens on the RED? If so, does it focus properly at the sensor distance and any test video?

    Thanks!

Its really good. Like one of the best around 50mm lenses out there.

Think most or all of the above is shot with it. Not the best test footage but gives a hint about sharpness etc.

Woah, beautiful. Was that shot on RED? Didn't see any info. Still trying to make sure it will work properly mounted in front of the Epic.

Best way to convert? I read some weird stuff about having to take the lens apart, buy a third party adapter, etc.

You can use a FD mount on the camera, get a lens technician to put a PL mount on the lens or get a EF adapter from someone like Ed Mika that you can install yourself (but you’ll have to take apart some of the lens mount to install it) it’s pretty easy to do.

I have done all with great success, but prefer PL or original FD mount as they are sturdiest...

I have a secondhand Red FD mount which I believe is sold by seller ciecio7 on ebay. Have used it with the 50mm 1.4 nFD lens (and other lenses, both FD and nFD mount) without problem. There is a ring on the mount which must be turned anticlockwise before mounting the lens, then turned clockwise after mounting lens to engage the pin on the rear of the lens so the aperture adjustment works.

An oldie, but goodie. Literally the first lens I modified to EF mount in the early 2000s using a saw, cement, and a mount ripped out of an extension tube

Ed Mika has a proper conversion kit for it these days.

That's the one I came across was Ed's. Your way sounds more fun now.
