I know because I bought both an Epic-W at the lower price and had my so called Stealth Forged Weapon upgraded to Helium. Helium Weapon was sold new and only came in woven CF for $50k. Then, as you know everything got morphed into DSMC2, which slashed the value of my "Weapon". I have thought seriously about upgrading it to Monstro, but would hate to drop that cash only to have DSMC 3 come out next year.
He said "Helium." Which camera is that? I ordered at launch as one of the Scarlet-W customers, and got a Helium at launch. He said that Helium launched at $50K... but the Helium that I ordered at launch was $30K, not accounting for the Scarlet-W discount.

Helium at launch wasn't a camera, it was a sensor available in several camera models.

Before I get flamed - the thread is about best course of action and it just seems in your particular case that the depreciation on Monstro due to competition in the next year or so either from RED DSMC3 or others would be pretty brutal.
I guess it's going to depend on what sort of trade-in options Red offers to go from DSMC2 to DSMC3, which is anybody's guess at this point.

At the risk of stating the obvious, the farther in the future DSMC3 drops - the longer you'll have to ROI your current RED.

    Just sayin'

    Finally got the point, eh?

That's why saying that Helium launched at $50K is misleading... because it also launched at $30K.

Absolutely agree. I am not quibbling about the value of my camera....it has made a lot of money....especially when it was still new....it shot a lot of Under Armour ads with Tom Brady...

Curious..why quibble about semantics when you know what both he and I mean....? So no, I don't get the point, unless the point is just to quibble.
