Was hoping that someone from the audio development side could augment what Jarred has already revealed (http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=17565) about the nature of these upgrades:
The good news is.. we have taking this opportunity to also redesign the Audio board in parallel, resulting in audio performance that is vastly, vastly, superior. We have decided to swap all existing camera audio boards at no cost during the /i pin installation ( which is also no charge to you. )I hope everyone is happy with these changes.. the audio performance in the production samples we have received are off the chartsrollout of the new boards is not expected till September...
So apparently professional +4dBu with standard pinning will now be the standard for the inputs. (Yea!!) I wonder what else might be coming? I assume working phantom power, naturally. New preamps? A limiter? Some way to conveniently access mic levels without menus?this is just one of the many great improvementsOriginally Posted by DAServices
Will the new audio board eliminate the need for the Red audio cables (mini XLR to XLR) with the resistors, if we wanted to use the camera 48v phantom power?
