Introducing a new and exciting lens........The NIKKOR "NOCT" 58MM f/1.2 CF PL MOUNT Lens

The Nikkor-Noct 58mm f/1.2 lens has been long sought after for its high contrast, high resolution, attractive bokeh, and usability wide open with no coma or veiling glare. The original photography lens has a 25 close focus however this cinema design has allowed for a close focus of only 13. This new close focus will allow for spectacular nearly 3 dimensional looking images when combined with the natural field curvature of the lens.

The 58mm Noct was originally made in 1977 as a Nikon F mount AI lens and later made in the meter friendly AI-S version until it was discontinued in 1997. Less than 12,000 authentic lenses were made by Nikon making this one rare to find in any condition. This Nikkor lens has been so successful that many black market copies were made over the years making it very difficult to find.

TM Camera Solutions who sourced 100% authentic 58mm f/1.2 Noct lenses that were also in excellent to mint optical condition. This resulted in a very limited number of lenses that made the cut to become the 58mm Nikkor-Noct T1.3 PL Cinema Lens.

Zero Optik has deconstructed the original lens and placed in a precision housing made for cinema with extended cinema style focus throw, 0.8 mod gears for focus and iris control, and a stainless steel PL mount. This lens is the definition of small batch precision boutique lens housing for professional cinema use.

The aspherical optics are perfectly aligned for the most demanding cinema 4K to 8K delivery applications in Full Frame/Vista Vision.

Please see pictures of the lens and tests.

    Test specs:
    SCREEN GRABS - 4448X3096
    ALEXA LF Open Gate EI:800 / Shutter:180.0 / WB: 5600k or 3200k / FPS: 23.97 / LOG-C - corrected in post with REC709 / Lens Shot WIDE OPEN: constant f/1.2

Is this lens available with its native Nikon mount? And will the upcoming .95 Noctilux be a better candidate for cine-modding due to aperture and optical design improvements? Thanks.

You can still find them unmodified on eBay at varying costs, all expensive. There are as far as I know, two flavours of Noct Nikkor. One has a seven blade iris and one has a nine blade iris.

Custom made lenses are extremely costly to make. They have always been that way and now more than ever due to inflation/massive labor cost increase. I think this one is more of a marketing tool /showcasing the talent and skills of the peeps at Cinoflex. The response here (and on other forums as well as the City tour they are doing)will determine the fate of this trend attempt...

Important to note that at Duclos they say that reversing the Nikon focus pull direction is very time intensive and expensive, more so than the de-click and focus gear enhancements. It would be nice to have an option to retain the Nikon F-mount and focus pull direction and subtract the labor hours from final cost if not needed.
