Well this sucks, the list of problems I have with RED cameras continues. Was going to do some testing with the SteadXP gyro today before heading out on a shoot and my camera can't read any minimags.

I get the "MEDIA: Could not mount the media in the Side SSD..." message any time I try to insert any of my minimags in. Nothing's changed, nothing odd has happened, I properly unmounted the mags after the last offload.

Fuck my life. At least I have the VP of customer service on speed dial now. Just thought I'd try here first after submitting a ticket to see if anyone has any tips since I'm about to leave for this trip with a camera that yet again, doesn't work.

Cheers and I'm about to drown myself in beers,

    Ryan

    Ryan,
Grasping at straws here but maybe try and re-install whichever firmware you're on. Kinda go back to square one.

If that works, do a "secure format" on all you mags.

Thanks for the response Steve, really appreciate it. After trying a few times, the camera was finally able to read one of my cards. I did a secure format and now I'm upgrading the firmware from 7.0.1 to 7.0.3. Fingers crossed

This didn't work though two times prior to this. I had done a secure format on two occasions and the camera was still having a hard time reading the media.

Ugh, here we go again. New day, turn on camera, none of my minimags will mount again.

Restarted, now it doesn't even acknowledge that I've entered a minimag. This is so fucked.

    Ryan,

+) Take the camera to bits (modules + SIDE HANDLE if connected) - and out it back together.
There is (in my guess) asynchronous elements during the startup that might behave differently.

+) Booting from battery or Mains power.
This is just in case there in EM interference on the Mains and / power fluctuations.

+) Run a Camera healthcheck. Also check modules it thinks are attached.

+) Turn Off adhoc WiFi (if enabled) - as there is (in my guesstimated opinion something which cause causes issues where there is interference from Bluetooth or wifi).
