the $ is something i can't help you with except to say that all the systems that i have ever build / help build they are around the 3/4k (AUS) +....

you can spend less but you will have to compromise things like speed at rendering and real time effects in AVID. Or you can fork out $$$ now and get a system that will do what you want.

personally i go for the best i can afford - there is no motivator like debt!!

In a dreamworld I would buy the world ;)

I have other investments as well so for me I need to keep it as cheap as possible. I just need a laptop that will not make me climb the walls because it's

I found this, which is expensive but it got a quadcore, which might come in handy? (But is it necessary?) I think you can understand the specs even though it's in Swedish...

Is that enough for a solid fluid workflow without major bumps?

just make sure you can get full warranties and support - i take it you are not in sweden......you want to ba able to yell at someone when it goes tits up!

also be sure to add on freight / import tax,ect...it might bump up your costs.

And I'm living in Sweden so the computer I linked to is not imported (= no extra charges)

Ah... perhaps the quad processor and RAID storage that's near a TB is probably why.

But the computer I linked to is a quad core at 2,5ghz.
I think the storage is more likely, but that will probably be solved by external raids.
