    Hey guys,

I have a somewhat silly question. Is it possible to power the Raven (or any other dsmc 2 camera) with ONLY the V-Lock adapter, or do you need the I/O plate with it? Just curious to see how much of a "budget" set up I can find to power a Raven. The V-lock plate alone is only 500ish dollars and the I/O plate is obviously much more, so it might something I will add later as funds come in, but can I at least get the camera running with just the V-lock plate?

    Thanks for the advice.

Yes, you can use a battery module directly attached to the camera, I work this way often when shooting plates.

In your case I would use the RED DSMC2 Pro V-Lock Module so you can plug the A/C Adapter in when needed.

You can just run with a simple battery mount adapter too.

Do note if you don't have something like the Base I/O Expander you can't connect audio or timecode or have HD-SDI or HDMI out. Some sort of I/O is strongly recommended IMO.

Thanks Phil! I will totally get the I/O plate eventually.
