    Hi all

So i have a short film that i'm editing in resolve 14.

I shot the first half on my old Epic MX at 5k and the second half on my Epic W at 8k

The 8k footage plays smooth as silk 25fps but as soon as it hits the 5k it slows right down and starts dropping frames.
Why would this be. is it easier to scale 8k than 5k?

it's the same whether my timeline is 1080p or 4k.

My PC a overclocked 16 core threadripper with GTX1080ti 64gb ram. fast 8bay raid. and eve M2 system drive.

    Cheers

    The 5k is 4:1 and 6:1
    The 8K is 7:1 and 9:1

Resolve 14 has the new "performance mode" under playback menu that changes the quality of processing based on your computer setup, file type etc. Maybe that decodes the 8k files with lower quality and 6k with higher quality.

Try putting some test footage on the M2 drive, that would help you figure out where the bottle neck is. It is certainly is not the processor.
