Impressive!!!! Yes bring it on! Make it my VistaVision camera! ;-)
The SpeedMount reduces the full frame Image circle (43.3mm) to S35 format while speeding up the lens for nearly one stop. The new image circle covers 7K WS / 7K HD Helium and 5K WS / 5K HD Dragon.
Am I ready to shoot 5k again on my Dragon?...
I would love to see a Res chart with some ART lenses...
Some real life night shots with wide angle
It does look like that the OLPF is included in the mount (due to lens clearance?).
Is the OLPF user swappable?
Pat
Yes Olpf is swappable, so you can use 3rd party ones too, they just have to be VV size
if i got it right there is a thing about the space with OLPF to accommodate the glass in the mount...
saw this live at IBC and walked around with David to different lens companies and on some it works even on full 8k resolution (i think most sigma cine, Tokina,...)
defenetly a product too look out for!
OH SNAP, that's wicked. I guess they're suggesting 7kHD/5kHD for compatibility's sake... Anything extra is bonus/lens dependent.
Admittedly, I thought it'd be less expensive... but then I look at the alternative (the price of an Weapon 8k VV)... Plus you get an extra stop of light, and the FPS boost, compression ratio boost, and/or smaller file sizes of 7kHD/5kHD... Scarlet-W + ABT Mount = what? ~$16k? And that'd net you 5k VV/FF35 at 50fps r3d raw + extra stop of light transmission... Not bad... Not bad at all :D
Here's hoping they can make the same magic happen on DSMC1!
Also think the Alexa Mini version would be sweet... Alexa65 productions would be like, "YEahhhh... we need 10 of those..."
They are looking into DSCM1 but focused to finish this first. Let them do one at 100% and then go on from that :)
It is a really nice mount and you should seen manufactures faces when they saw it :)
AND you could even use that X2 anamorphic lens without cropping/FOV loss!
Hope it performs optically good enough for 5.5K on Helium.
