    Disclaimer:
I readily admit that Iím a newb when it comes to all things Red but Iíve been trying to read all I can; if this has been answered elsewhere please kindly point me the correct direction.

    Issue:
We were given 8K footage shot on a Helium and it has the magenta issue in the blown-out highlights that Iíve read about Ė*but unfortunately they didnít shoot with HDRX turned on and DRX option is not available in my REDCINE-X.

    Request:
Whatís the fix? It appears the green channel clipped earlier than the R or B. Iíve read in an old thread something about changing the metadata for the Green channel but havenít a clue how to do that. About all I can think of, since there doesnít seem to be the easy DRX or HDR fix, is to key the magenta out in post. Thoughts? Anything I can do in REDCINE-X?

    Thanks for your advice.

Hey there, can you post an R3D frame of the shot? In REDCine-X there's a little camera button under the preview that says R3D under it. You'll probably get some help here once people can see something.

Sure, here's an example; look at the frame of the left doors. All the shots have this same magenta highlights somewhere within them.

    Ryan,

I see what you mean. When you correct the Green out in RedcineX , the area just inside the kitchen door going into the next room and the next room have a magenta cast.

Here is how I attempted to correct it in RedcineX

After the correction, you can still see magenta around the door and other room.

here is an .r3d file so that you can see the corrections I made in RedcineX if it helps any.

You should try and just post the tread / topic once. This is a duplicate post. I had posted a response in your other, duplicate, thread.

The magenta off to the right in your image might be a different issue.

The magenta you see outside the window is chromatic aberration from the lens. I advise using IPP2 for the raw development, and if you email me I can give you lens-aberration-fixing creative 3D cubes that will drastically reduce the purple.

I was thinking that it might be a magenta colored object in next room. I think Graeme is right, its probably chromatic aberration from a very wide angle lens. You also see it at the bottom of the patio doors on the left.

The magenta also looks like a light source. I am talking about on the right side. The left is most certainly CA as Graeme and Rand point out. My eye was pulled to the wrong one. Sometimes circling area of interest really helps. :-)

and .r3d to check work in redcineX. Most of the work was done under the CDL tab just in case its not open.
