To replace my vintage glass that was stolen last month, I turned to my friends at Clairmont (CSC New York is apparently SO busy that they had no older glass to let go) See here for the original "stolen equipment" thread:
I ended up with a 10mm in lieu of the 12mm, and found a comparable 14mm. For the zoom, they sent along both a 20-100 and an 18-100. The 20-100 was MUCH older and had seen considerably more action than my 20-100, and the insurance company was game, so I ended up with the 18-100. But the price on the 20-100 was indeed $6,000, just like that one on eBay.
Wacky. I expect that the lens market will cool considerably as Red and others bring new, cheaper glass online. And the Birger may well prove terrific for the indie crowd and further lessen the pressure on the market.
