This one seems like a good sample and it's well accessorized. Check it out HERE if you're in the market for one.

    Just a heads-up...

Abel will have a similar lens up for sale soon. I'll post as soon as we get it written up (don't PM me on this one).

You aint seen nothing yet certainly is the new mantra of the industry while moving from mechanical cameras to digital cameras.

The value of used lenses has raised extremly - not surprising, as the amount of 35mm cameras in the industry now is doubled within 12 months, while reds pro lenses arent available yet there is a HUGE shortage of fine glass as the classic and modern angenieux, cooke, zeiss, elite lenses.

With 4000-5000 additional 35mm cameras in the market, there are simply not enough lenses for everybody, and the classic cookes, angenieux and zeiss are - when in competent hands - able to give outstanding images.

Wow. A beat-up old lens that I would laugh out of the test bay is worth more than $6K?!? It certainly is a whole new ball game out there.

It was, but with the current artificially-inflated demand and prices, all bets are off. I was just offered $25K for my 18-100 last week. I'm in the market for primes, but haven't found any sets that I'm willing to put money on or at least not at the asking prices. I'm going to tough it out with rentals until I see what the RED primes bring to the table and I have a reservation for those. I have a hard time justifying $25K for a set of 4 non-matched Arri T2.1 primes that are 22 years old. Lots of such sets around and people are buying them at that price, which only adds to the problem. I honestly can't believe that demand is as high as it is because I don't have much trouble finding used glass for sale... $5900 starting bid for a 25 year old 20-100 T3.1.. PUHLEEEEZE.

If I would've known this was going to happen, I would've cornered the market on used Zeiss standards 2 years ago. Oh well, 20/20 hindsight and all of that.

Anyway, I'm trying to wait it out for now. But the rental situation is getting a little precarious around here. The couple rental houses in town have been cashing in on this lens insanity and are selling off a lot of the lenses I would normally rent.

For one of our clients, Abel is selling a Cooke 20-100 T3.1 zoom with a 5x6 Arri mattebox and an Arri two-sided followfocus as a complete kit. Everything is setup for 15mm bridgeplate rod support. This equipment was owned by an effects company and was never rental equipment.
