Hi, not sure where to post this question, but I bought a rota-pola tray and was hoping to put my 138mm schneider filter inside it. I realize that I actually need an unmounted filter. (just the glass) Does anyone know of a safe way to unmount the casing from the 138 circular filter? There are 2 very small holes on the inside of the ring. Obviously, I don't want to risk scratching the glass.

Any suggestions would be really helpful.

    Thanks,

Just use a pointy instrument and unscrew the retaining ring. Use caution and not much pressure.

    Hi,

I have this exact same issue right now. Bought a 138 polarizer but I need to remove the retaining ring.

Does anyone have any more insight to this? I see two tiny holes on the retaining ring but not sure if I just push into those with a tiny screw driver?

Wondering if I would be able to remove it with my red sidewinder tool.

    Anyone’s help is greatly appreciate!

Worst case I’ll just have to go return it and get an unmounted version.
