My budget-priced Steven Studio 650watt and 2K ARRI clone lights would become a bit overcapitalised.

These lamp replacements are an excellent notion in terms of heat, available power and the quick option of reverting to tungsten if that legacy tungsten-lit skin tone has to be absolutely the way you want it. It is good to see that US on-shore inventiveness remains alive and well.

    Ok... need some help here.

When you buy the 1K relamp bulb, you need to choose between "ARRI T1" and "ARRI 1K PLUS" models.

What I have, are "ARRI STUDIO 1000".

Mines are kind of like the "ARRI 1K PLUS" but I'm not 100% sure it will fit.

Tried to call (415) 371-1100 to ask with no luck.

Also they offer an "upgraded" fresnel that improves the light trough. "Aspheric Diffractive Plano-Convex Lens Design. Much brighter than the old glass lens, and projects a more uniform light field.

    Any help?

Does anyone have any recent working experience with these lamp replacements. I am examining re-lamping a 5K fresnel with 2K to stay within available power budget from household outlets.

I think this is the direction I'm going to go. I've been looking at LED replacement for a long time, and just never been happy with using non-fresnel type of lights. I was going to go the Rayzr7 route, but finally played around with them a couple of weeks ago.

There is no way the rayzr7 Lights will survive after a few years of ownership. I'm pretty positive they won't even survive one Canadian winter. The fresnel is made out of plastic. It takes a crazy amount of turns to go from spot to Flood. There's no question the cover that goes over the buttons will wear out quickly, and it's hard to get a good grip on the tie downs.

I do like the power cable though on the rayzr7.

The ReLamps look good because I can keep the tungsten bulbs and just swap out when I when I need to go daylight to tungsten. I get to keep it in the Arri Shell. The Arris I have are from the 90's and still going strong. I can keep using scrims.

The only thing I don't know if it will make a big difference is that I notice in the photos the edge of the output has a different fall off compared to the tungsten. But I could probably work around that.

I've got a couple heavy duty, old school Junior 2K Mole 412s with the proper Fresnel lenses just waiting for re-lamping. Just wish Visionsmith, or somebody, could make a profit selling them for a more reasonable price than $1,000/lamp.

Does anyone know of any other options out there? I'm not expecting $40 each like the regular tungsten, and I respect what it takes to create high output, high CRI daylight. That said, I feel like they're trying to get all their NRE back on the first 100 sold.

    Cheers - #19
