    Hello,

Anybody going to NAB 2016 could give us some more infos about the Latitude Sidekick module that mounts between the Weapon body and Red's Sidekick?

I think their vision is really clever. Closer to the lens is always better!

I would love to see the prototype working on a video (if it's ready yet).

This is so incredibly BADASS and the most innovative design I've seen. Who knew you could stick stuff BETWEEN the sidekick and the body. Awesome

im very curious about it too. does it need to be powered by a cable though or it gets its power from the pogo port, and do you need a sidekick attached?
and most of all can you mount it btwn the new side grip!!!

seems like the best thing ive seen just to even have lemo ports.

You have to power it as the power draw : motors & 3 extra Lemo power output, needs more Amp. But I wonder how much power it would eat up with 1 motor, RF and 2 thumb wheels?
Good question about the side grip.

PS: as this is fine tuned for the Weapon I hope they will make custom calbes and not those 60cm cables they have as standard (power&motors).

From what I read on Facebook, you need a very short power cable to plug it in, the sidekick connector isn't enough to power it. So you run a little 3" cable from the aux power out on the camera to the module, or from the Ptap. You also need to run a very small ctrl cable to it so that it can do start/stop functions and control EF lenses from the hand unit. So, while it's positioned under the sidekick, it appears to only be passing through the sidekick functions and not actually using that connection for anything of it's own- which leads me to assume it'll work with the new side handle as well.

Which is fine by me, I think it's a brilliant design and will definitely be getting one. Seems like a small enough accessory that it can just live on the camera like a top plate. When you're not using a FIZ system, you just take off the cables and you're good to go. This will be a killer solution for Movi setups too; one more way to make the camera setup more streamlined and simplified.

Also great for rental options. Take it off if no FIZ is needed!

I'm on the list for preorder!

Not compatible with new side handle, but can also just have any dumb sideplate (sidekick not required)

    Yes needs external power.

In an ideal world yes we could eliminate CTRL cable... Kris can certainly do it... But not 100% sure the sidekick connector is available for 3rd parties yet (that is why it was conceived as a pass thru only for now)

Yes to installing this module and never remove it again ;-)

thanks Sam Renollet from RVZ for pushing this idea from the beginning and Kris for turning it into a great product.

Working proto will be at NAB but without sidekick passthru (yet) as it is just 'hot out of the oven'...

Kris is on the plane right now to NAB with it so he may reply later with more info on this latitude...

wish i didnt have to cancel nab for work, dying to see this all work, still a little confused about it all.
i am for sure looking to get a working lemo prt on the camera somehow, but also a wireless focus system.
now am i wrong, but this can work with EF lenses with no focus motor too?
just this, and a handset? and you use a motor only when you have true cine lenses attached?
