you will run into problems with wireless video and monitor devices however............................ i went with the Base I/o V-lock will still power the camera via lemo cable to handle bars with mounted V-mount battery for Ronin work. SDI port alone is the kicker

Sorry if this is a stupid question, or if it's been answered elsewhere, but will any V-mount batteries (Blueshape, IDX, etc.) work with this V-Lock Expander, or only Red bricks?

I wonder the same. Red bricks are 90mm in width. PAG L90 slim are 84mm. Some IDX are 97. Globalmediapro are 102mm..

When it comes to V-lock batteries, compatibility has to do with the connector not the physical size of the battery. Now, the question of, is the battery too big or small for you particular setup is a personal question that's tough to answer without knowing your rigging plans.

When it comes to Red Base I/O V-lock adapter, compatibility with some of my wider batteries remains to be seen, unless you have technical drawings

I obviously don't have technical drawings of the module but it's roughly the same size as the body which has technical drawings publicly available. I would suggest looking at those if you need an exact battery measurement.

Beyond that, if the battery fits on a RED battery plate today there is a good chance it'll fit onto a RED battery plate tomorrow.

I just want to chime in on this old thread and say that Global Media Pro batteries DO NOT work on the Red V Lock Expander.

VLOCK's are still the best way I feel, and the VLOCK module is only $599.00 ( plus a few batteries $350 4x ) But for AC & VLOCK power the best is the http://www.red.com/store/products/ds...ery-module-pro
