A great series, and it's been commissioned for a series 2. I hope it's given room to breath and grow.

BTS here http://www.definitionmagazine.com/st...italdaily1.pdf - about grading Peaky (you'll have to download the pdf - I can't find the article on the HD website).

Currently watching Ripper Street series 2 on the Beeb, again, shot on Alexa. It looks great - but I'm growing tired of the look that's being used in Brit drama at the moment... there are a coupe of ways the footage goes 'edgy/modern' Alexa hues or 'Olde Worlde/history' Alexa look (typified by Peaky or Ripper).

If you want to see some Red Epic camera stuff, check out the UK series 'Utopia' (aired on Channel 4 earlier this year). Some really nice work and great use of Hawk Anamorphics and Super speeds.
Utopia is the best looking tv show i have ever seen! Color Grading is at best

Utopia series two looked great too - only a few shots (here and there) suffered the purple otb problem... (series 1 was Epic and series 2 was Epic Dragon) but it sort of matched the show's aesthetic anyway :)

A real shame that a UK series 3 won't be commissioned.

I personally love the look of Peaky. I like it much better then Boardwalk Empire. The look that is. I think the style adds to the story.

I think it is as stylised as the story. Absolutely stunning! But Boardwalk is much more naturalistic/realsitic w.e and it fits the story too.

Black Frost is from Schneider. It's their version of Black Promist, and what Schenider adds to Classic Soft to create Hollywood Black Magic. It's a black "mist".

Vikings uses similar filtration, though can't remember if they go Schneider or Tiffen with their black particles.

Hey Nick! Vikings uses Tiffen Black Satin 1's. Such a great look!
