Agreed. The real magic is a truly designed anamorphic lens that plays nice with itself. This is more or less just a hack because I'm weird and had some old glass laying around. I used to have several Iscorama 50mm 1.5X anamorphic lenses and I've pieced together a few others. The downside with the hack is that the anamorphic lens isn't optimized for the taking objective or vice versa, so a bit of distortion is apparent. Especially wider than 50mm.

Today I attached a Canon 100mm f/2 and the 100mm f/2.8 Macro to it. Basically anything with 58mm threads will work at the moment.

The cool bit is I also now have the Canon 55mm f/1.2 FL lens adapted to EF. I should do a side by side with the new Zeiss Otus :)

I've noticed recently EdMika is providing adapters for certain FD lenses to mount straight to EF, although with a bit of work. I just ripped mine off of another busted Canon lens and starting hacking away while taking precise measurements. Maybe I'll toss together a small FL/FD kit. I think with a bit of effort and rather sever modification I can mount a few of the lenses to PL. Might be a fun project.
