So the RED has been idle for 15 minutes or so when it just shuts off. I waited a moment and then powered it back on- no problems with any thing. Any thoughts or similar problems?

Were you on battery or AC at the time?

He was using the battery with plenty of charge. We turned it back on and started shooting. We would have been more worried if we had data on the drive, but we hadn't begun for the day. It would be nice to make this occurrence less of a mystery (The Red has plenty mystery) : )

We've also had this problem, even with the latest Beta build. (2.2.1) Camera is idle, then just shuts down for now reason. Never happens during a take, but when idle. Also, from time to time, the camera won't boot. It just says "Booting", and does nothing for ten minutes. It can take three or four power cycles to get it to boot. I'm hoping this is firmware.

Does the RED have an idle power off, like a DV camera with tape in it? I don't have mine yet so I don't know.

It may also be a bad connection between the Cradle and the battery, we had this issue a couple of times doing handheld, the slightest touch of the battery caused a power down. That´s why I decided to go with Anton Bauer Plate wen my camera is here.

Yes, taking the battery off and putting it on again has solved things sometimes. Not ideal, though.

Was the camera left in direct sunlight or in a hot environment?

It was sometimes, and it wasn't at other times. We've always had the temp OK sign. We've kept it in the shade, mostly, or ice bagged it if at all concerned. Heat doesn't seem to be a part of this.
