I wouldnīt say intoxicted... they projected two reels in 4k... one reel with full debayered footage from the original sensor... because very few people had ever seen that footage projected in 4k... and a second reel with full debayered MX footage projected in 4k...
I didnīt like all the footage I saw... but that was just a matter of taste... you can capture badly lit footage with every imaging system... you can still tell that it is digital capture... that was at least my impression... but if you light it well or know how to use available light to your advantage and how to squeeze the best possible image out of the sensor and post it is a great tool...
they also talked about the ASA rating of the new sensor, which they said would sit comfortably at 800 ASA... but depending on the shooting situation might yield a better quality at different settings... and there have been improvements to the color science that might have already been covered in this forum but Iīm not sure...
as with every imaging system, digital or film, everybody will need to do his own tests and figure out how to rate the sensor depending on the requirements of a particular shooting situation...
as I said my biggest concern was not even the sensor... it was the weight and form factor of the Epic camera... I like it and Iīm sure a lot of other operators will agree...
