In that case DNxHD.

Hi, Donnie,
You can't bring them back as R3D, so render to a 10-bit format like DNxHD or Apple Prores if you're on Mac. That way you preserve a good quality. You can output a XML from Resolve,...
For Win7, my experience is that it matters quite a lot which GPU is used for GUI. I've tried several - GTX 285, GT 440, GTX 560ti - and by far the best performance has been with GTX 285. And there's...
That's so cool machine :)
AnotherGUI is also a nice front-end for Prores rendering, and it's free. PRHelper looks more advanced though.
How does one feed image from I/O card to Cinema Display? It only has Thunderbolt.
I came accross a strange thing with Epic test footage. When lowering the saturation, the image turns blue, not black and white. The blue tint can be seen on the scopes as well. Tried to change...
Do you have hands-on experience with the new iMac? I'd be especially interested how it performs with Resolve, with the 2GB VRam option..
On Windows, I would choose one of the recommended cards. Others can work, but they may slow up performance with Resolve. Unless of course if you can test and find some other cards working nicely.
If possible, I would wait for the GTX 690. Especially if you're short on PCI-e slots. If I understand correctly, it's basically 2 x 680, and seen as one card by the OS.
Thanks for the info!
I am using Resolve Lite with Core i7 2600K processor, 16 GB ram, GTX 285 for GUI and GTX 580 3GB for image processing. Working with this configuration is nice and smooth with up to 15 nodes in...
I didn't seem to find what the trackball and ring are for on the multifunction panel..
I'm really sorry to hear that Prores isn't supported with the latest update. For me the prores support was also a huge leap, and a reason to stay with the PC version. I hope it is coming back in the...
Is it possible to fit a Decklink card into a system like yours?
I heard a rumor that there's prores encoding support on the beta 3, on Windows. Has anyone been able to verify this?
I had trouble with Prores PAL timeline, had to render to uncompressed QT. Also XDCAM HD or HDV quicktime wouldn't work in Windows. Prores HD works fine.
Just figured out some of my XML problems....
The Decklink card? Sure, no problem.
I have GTX 285 and GTX 580, it's realtime for at least 15 nodes on HD. So 2x GTX works fine. Blackmagic recommends GTX 580 and Quadro 600..
You can have HDMI and SDI outputs from Decklink card. So...
I was quite excited about PC Resolve, but not so much now, after some experience. It's fast on PC, and you can build a good system cheap. But, the problem is Windows and its limited choice of codecs,...
Yeah my setup is not ideal, would be better off with X79 or even X58.. but I'm happy to get realtime HD and 1/4 res RED with my gear!
Interesting times to be a computer geek and to have interest in color grading, I would say :)
According to what I have tested, the GPU used for gui also helps quite a bit with image processing....
I ran some tests with three GPUs: GTX580, GTX 285, and GT 520. I tried all possible combinations with the two GPU slots that I have, with the exception that I didn't try the GT 520 as the image...
That's a good idea, worth trying.
Yes the Windows beta version is pretty stable, the thing that I have had problems with is importing certain codecs/formats; PAL Prores clip imported to my system as a green clip, had to use...
Thanks for great info, Subhadip. It might be good idea then to wait for Sandy Bridge-EP, 80 PCI-E lanes sounds tempting :) Looks like the Asus Rampage IV Extreme only supports 2 PCI-E lanes at full...
