Cringley is NEVER right. Why anyone still listens to him is beyond me.
Yeah, season 2 of the new Knight Rider series... if it even makes it past one season.
The pin idea is interesting. My girlfriend's Passat's radio has a pin feature. If the stereo is removed or the battery disconnected you have to enter a 4 digit pin before the stereo functions. If you...
I have this small retractile Kensington cable lock that I got at the Apple Store. I'm sure it wouldn't be terribly hard to defeat but something is better than nothing. The Wiki page says that a combo...
I always feel a little better when I have my laptop locked to my seat frame in my truck when I leave it, having had laptops stolen. Does it make sense having a lock socket on Scarlet? It's so small I...

Exactly. A lot of people assume that no one will be able to work with the footage because for some reason you are locked into 3k which is NOT the case. I'd probably work at 720p. You can edit 720p...
I intend on making very, very, very bad shorts with Scarlet. I can't wait.
Everyone needs to accept that Jim is making this camera and anyone that wants one for whatever can have one. If someone...
Aren't companies working on this now, but by stacking sensors on top of each other with different sensitivities?
Thank you Dukeswharf!
This is like going on a BMW forum and telling everyone they should be driving a Ford Taurus because they aren't professional drivers. Uggg.
The topic of a high quality...
Who says that everyone who shoots with Scarlet is going to work at 3k?
Apple did this sort of thing with their first gen iMac G5. Most of the components were user replacable. It was awesome. But they gave up on the experiment with later revisions. Oh well.
I would...
I sent my Canon S400 digital still camera into them a couple years ago. I was hoping they'd just give me a newer camera because they didn't make the 400 anymore. No luck, they sent me back my camera...
I'm thinking Red has a little more experience projecting ship dates now so I'm optimistic but I'm not selling my HV20 anytime soon.
Eventually sensors will far exceed film, it's only a matter of time. Someday we'll be able to shoot motion HDR. And we'll have hoverboards just like in Back to the Future II.
Jim once said that if he had to shoot on Red One (the version he had at the time) forever he'd be happy or something to that degree. Having said that I don't think he'll ever be satisfied and that's...
Red has yet to meet their current demand so they have no need to advertise at present. Maybe they put banners on Reduser...
You should be able to transcode to another format that Vegas can edit. My four year old P4 can transcode R3D using Red cine... it's just pretty slow at it.
I thought he made it for me. :(
With my Canon camera and my Apple laptop they send me a box and it's shipped off to a service center. It doesn't bother me that I don't get the pleasurable experience of driving to a service center...
I think they could sell at least 10,000 pretty quickly.
Upload your own guides as transparent PNG's... just an idea.
I believe Red is very serious about the workflow. With another year of dev I'm sure the workflow will be working very smoothly, at least I hope so.
Great point Dennis. Red has emphasized the word pocket from the beginning and after reading your post it makes a little more sense why they chose that word.
