I'm experiencing something odd in Log mode when I use the mouse to make RGB adjustments versus when I use the trackballs of my Tangent Element.
Basically, I'll make the same adjustment with the...
Forgot to mention that I'm selling it for $4,000.
Thanks for all the responses so far.
I'm selling my Sony PVM 2541 OLED 10bit reference monitor. I've had it for 6 months. It's still under warranty. I had it professionally calibrated by a THX certified calibration specialist just last...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand 32bit floating point to mean that there is a kind of expanded range/latitude for adjustments within the whites and blacks of an image, whether it be an HDR...
Is there a way to render multiple versions without having to individually select each version?
I recently did a job where the client wanted to see how a sweater and a dress would look in a variety...
Both programs have recently released updates so I decided to test them out.
I offloaded 15GB of R3D from a Redstation USB 3.0 to my RMBP 512GB SSD Desktop. I used MD5 checksums for both.

I'll be damned... it worked!!!
When I got into the office today, I started in on it. First thing I did was to edit one of the erroneous clips in the EDL with an underscore. Then I tried the...
By the way, your last comment does not inspire much confidence...
Do they understand the actual difference between MD5, Byte or SHA 1 checksums? Or are they just parroting terminology?
Just...
Yes, I understand how MD5 checksums work. I understand how the production blame-game works too, which is why I think you missed the point of my post...
It doesn't matter if you did your job well;...
I can assure you that if footage is missing or corrupt, MD5 checksums will not protect you from anything...
At that point, it will have turned into some sort of blame game among the suspected...
Thanks for the input, Jake.
I've considered doing the conform in Smoke and just grading from DPX, but I always thought that I'd be cheating myself... maybe not... guess I'll have to rethink this...
Thanks for your replies. I hope that my responses have not come off poorly. I really appreciate your help as you have some really great and helpful ideas (not to mention your contributions on other...
Yes, I noticed that the tape names were missing the underscore, but if that is what is causing the non-conform, then how is it that 80% of the files do conform? All files are missing the underscore....
True, but when you have approximately 20% of a job out of whack, that can easily add up to a couple hours just conforming... it often has been that a conform takes longer than the actual grade and...
I was excited about this update too as I expected the transfer rates to be improved. However, when I did a side by side comparison with Shotput Pro, I was surprised to see that Shot Put transferred...
Trying to conform an EDL from a two camera shoot from FCP7. The timecode was synced correctly on set, no effects and everything was brought down to a single track in FCP7, so I wasn't expecting any...
I'm trying to figure out specifically/technically how higher resolution alone benefits color grading... does it allow us to push colors further than lower resolution media, all other factors being...
Recently working on set and I noticed that timecode had drifted considerably... This is for a two camera, Red Epic, MOS shoot.
I didn't want to pass it off to editorial because I knew that they...
I'd like to start using Smoke for Mac in my tower, which is currently configured for Resolve with three GeFroce GTX 680 cards (two in the Cubix), Red Rocket, Fiber and Decklin 3d. The thing is, Smac...
It was a veteran with well over 10 years experience (more like 20 years) in color who originally cautioned me against external scopes when I mentioned that I was looking into them... Also, I live...
As a side note, I came across some of the newer models of onboard monitors and I was really impressed to see that they come with internal scopes as well, in full screen color!
It got me thinking...
After watching a demo from Tektronix on the use of their waveform monitors as color grading tools, I decided to demo a Tektronix and Leader Waveform Monitor for color grading use and on-set DIT work....
When we render in DaVinci, are we losing a significant amount of color information/quality by going from a 12bit R3D to a a 10bit DPX file?
Most Flame artists ask me to give them 10bit DPX files,...
That can't be true... All of the cards in the Cubix are recognized in my System Report. Also, DaVinci recognizes them in the Preferences section too.
I think you're referring to external graphics...
