No the rocket cache uses ssd as a cache for the drive so you get ssd speeds and hard drive capacity. For not much money.

I just want a 3tb very quick drive. Am thinking of having 3 60gb ssd and a 3tb spinning drive

Anyone tried the HighPoint RocketCache? They spec it for a 8x slot but will a 4x slot work?

The down side for me with the Sonnet is that you cant connect a monitor aswell. And potentially you can connect both the Sonnet and Lacie.
