Thanks Richard....
Well that puts it on par with PPro as far as red playback....can you guys go to 1/8th as well?
no I understand that...
and that is a great workflow feature....
the only difference is to multicam you had to render proxies...
I am trying to determine the horsepower of FCX....how many...
In PPro you can handle native r3d multicam, with no overnight rendering.....immediately after the shoot. You of course have to use the proxy Rez to achieve this....but there is no rendered proxy file.
Thats a big step up....
I think PPro has a slight edge here...as no transcoding ever until render....
But there's no way PPro could multicam 10 r3d files at once....not enough horsepower....can...
I can see how that would be useful once you got used to it.....
Question....and I honestly don't know....but on your 10 camera switch is that native r3d or transcoded?
Does FCX work in native or is...
The one major complaint I have about PPro is the lack of plugins....
Software makers usually will make them for AE and quit often for FC....but for PPro there is not a lot diversity of plugins as...
This can all be done in PPro using nested sequences....I multicam switched 3 4k camera in PPro the other day and had to apply CC to the entire sequence.....
You do have to make a new sequence and...
Well editing in PPro 10 years ago definitely would have sucked....
The industry is very fluid.....I have switched editing apps 4 times and finally settled at premiere, and every switch was either...
Sweet stuff.....
I want your day job....
Who's the sheep in this case
Every non FC user ;)
I think from my tests Stephan is right in this....
The bad scaling comes from doing 'scale to frame size' and then scaling it again.....I don't PPro is smart enough to concatenate the 2 scaling...
I've learned not to bash any experienced editors preferred package.....
If they like it that much.....there is obviously reasons why they appreciate it.
That being said....those features extolled...
^^^ what stefan said...
I still do it accidentally a few times a week....
cineform
ok I was finally able to screw it up.....
when you do export to xml....are you sure you have the sequence highlighted in yellow....i.e. click on the sequence then go to export xml.....
cause if...
are you adding directories in the import dialogue?
hitting the little plus + sign and adding floders where the r3d media is.....
or are you just hitting import and getting the clip relinker...
just exporting a FCXML from ppro....
import it into redcine.....and bang...it appears in the timeline.....
literally that is all....
i tried to screw it up to see what you were up against...so i...
The spec for thunderbolt 2 is pci v2 4 lanes...
A motherboard doesn't have to be all v1 2 or 3 pci spec....
Almost all MB that are pci v3 16x slots are at the same time v1 for the 4x...
The spec for the cable is true....but if the connection into the interface is only capable of 16gb then that is the limiting factor....
This is the falcon bridge chipsets design
There is lots of...
You are probably right...and there is plenty of bandwidth for the foreseeable future....
I'm just splitting hairs pointing out that its not actually 20gb if its connection is only 4 lanes pci...
The issue with this is the expansion bandwidth....
With no expansion slots and everything relegated to TB, you have a grand total of 24 pci v2 lanes....as TB2 is connected through 4 lane pci v2........
just FYI
TB2 is based on a pci v2 4 lane connection....
so no matter how fast the cable, you can only get 16gb not 20
so 60% faster then current TB
enough for a rocket x???

4. Looks like only 4 ram slots...
i assume graphics is based off of dual w8000's w9000's
