You've heard of the BBC, right?
Hi Mathieu,
I'm not keen on certain features, the magnetic timeline, compound clips, the lack of traditional tracks or the event browser, but I could probably overcome all of those issues if spent...
Ketch, I'm just asking a question. You stated you shot at f/22, you didn't say why. No need to be so defensive, we're all friends here. This isn't flickr, discussing technique and sharing information...
Steve, you're class act:-)
Nope. She was unpaid, though they did pay for her dry cleaning...
Thanks Mathieu for an excellent post. Again, I can absolutely see how FCPX works well for you in your set-up. Funnily enough, I recommended FCPX for a client of mine who's needs were similar to yours.
Stunning indeed. I wonder if they had to pay image rights to Audrey's estate.
Why would you do that? A few stops of ND would have helped these shots enormously.
Agreed.
Moving this debate on...
I'd like to hear from people who are happily using FCPX in a professional context; what type of jobs are you editing, how are you collaborating and managing...
That is a different situation to Producers who actively seek free labour. It's still not right though.
That goes for both sides or the argument and for those, like me, who are in the middle:-)
Good for you Brandon, but it's still bang out of order not to pay you for the work you did.
Aren't you meant to spend that on beer?
You'll get the ole boy network whether people are paid or not. This industry has always attracted the feckless middle classes, or producers as I...
How did you afford to eat, pay for a roof over your head, travel to work or wash your clothes?
I'm not judging you guys, but not paying young people is a scourge on our industry.
Thanks for the reply. I can see why FCPX works for you and that's cool, but I and many other people have different needs and no matter how long we spend learning FCPX it still won't cut it for us. ...
Terry, what do you cut on FCPX? And how often? Sincere questions, not baiting.
I learned the software. Spent money and time learning. Lots of people did and came to the same conclusion; love some things about it, but hate other things. That's why I moved to clunk, clunk, click...
Sure, you get what you pay for, and then next month you can pay for it again...
I kicked the tyres, hated it. If CC sucks I'll have another serious look at FCPX. If it still sucks, I'll go back to Avid and shout cocksuckers very loudly. That said, I'm pretty sure Premiere CC...
Hmm, looks like MacProX.
Still, it will look nice next to my fridge.
Taste is a funny thing, I thought that was a terrible show with awful cinematography. It looked like it was trying desperately hard to be cool but falling some distance short.
I didn't mean him, or you for that matter;-)
BTW I shot in Japan last year and had a really good time. Tokyo is as mad as a box of frogs.
This thread is hilarious. Some of you need to read Danny Boyle's 15 Golden Rules for moviemaking, and pay particular attention to rule number 8!
...
Now that is funny. Some dodgy audio editing and weird skin tone, but it's funny.
It is a spoof, right?
To be accurate it's £38.11 + VAT. Which, at the present ROI, means we are paying a whole £4 more than our US brothers.
I'd like Adobe to offer a video tools package with PP, AE, Photoshop, Speed...
Nick,
I think companies that manufacture their gear in their own back yard should be applauded. There are too many companies profiting from cheap labour in third world countries. Look at that...
