If you have cables coming out of those front ports, I think they'll just too often be running into follow focus', big lenses, etc. It would be better if the module is towards the front of the camera...
If you like lots of shortcut keys and an extra record button, it's good to have. That's about all it does right now.
Are there any thoughts on this? Anybody from RED want to chime in on what this means? Can it be fixed? I see this as a major video imaging flaw.
I found something interesting today with the HDMI and HD-SDI outputs on a Scarlet-X. There is a pretty drastic difference between the luminance and color coming out of each of them. The HDMI is...
Update to 3.2.16 and it should fix it. In previous builds it didn't show those tools out of the HD-SDI, only HDMI.
Does anyone know if there is an antenna upgrade for the Scarlet? And/or a solution for getting the Redmote to stay connected to the Scarlet yet?
We're having the same connection issues as everyone...
I have some front boxes here available to any camera assistant interested. They are made from rock solid exotic hardwoods. Ranging from Zebra wood, Dark Walnut, Lace wood, Purple Heart, Yellow Heart,...
Hey Brent, any chance this will be a fixed issue in an upcoming update? Also having horrible connection between camera and REDmote. After being connected for about 15 minutes and working well it goes...
Ok, yeah, that makes perfect sense. So it's not talking about internal operating temperatures, just ambient temperatures. Got it.
So what does +40 mean? To me that just says over 40, how much over 40?
In the Ops Guide, it says operating temp is 0 deg C to +40 deg C. What does +40 mean? What is the max recommended operating temp before the fan kIcks on and the camera is getting pissed? I generally...
Is there a way to download the redmote software without downloading the epic firmware? I'm on set, I don't own a camera(no login for downloading firmware), and I'm trying to get the software.
Thanks Alan.
I was trying to find the REDmote's current version and firmware. Anybody have a link? I couldn't find it.
I had the HDSDI set to Menus, same as I have it for HDMI now. I tried reboots, factory default reset, and firmware reinstalls, nothing gave me the tools out of the SDI. When I called Red support, the...
I agree that the price point argues fewer features. But, I think those features I'm talking about just need to be there. Things like resolution, frame rate, HDR, Compression rates, etc. are...
I did not buy a scarlet. I was hired on a production as the 1st Assistant. My job is to make the camera streamlined, comfortable and functioning properly so my operator and DP can do their job...
Alas, it does not, only hdmi. For now at least, assuming it's coming in some future update. It's simply a bug, or a negated feature. I can see RAW and MAGNIFY over SDI, that is all.
There are definitely many steps forward, but those two that I'm talking about are crucial features that hinder a professional and efficient workflow on set. The good thing is that updates are...
Look around area, we had it on Red One, and now it's gone with the scarlet... that's an incredibly important operating tool, that should not have been left out. Whether its "coming soon" or not...
Yes, it does record 24 through HD-SDI and yes it keeps the file names. Keep in mind it will also record any frame guides or status displays going through the SDI as well.
Thanks a lot Sierra, I will work on a DIT box. How about a full custom wood DIT cart?
I have 5 new boxes finished that are ready to go.
The first one is made from a beautiful Lace wood. This is a very nice batch of boxes. Let me know if you are interested, thanks.

Have you tried the gig-e cable?
