I'm only reporting our own experience.
We never use or recommend Eizo displays for anything other than good GUI displays.
That is based on direct experience of comparison with many other...
Being an IPS panel is good - but Spectraview as a calibration system is not...
There are very few internal calibration system that actually work. That is why manufactures such as Penta nd FSI,...
Not sure about the 'change' option - it's never worked for me...
But, the other LUTs you refer too are for emulation of other 'looks' not calibration.
When you load the LUT it is concatenated...
I think - although I could be wrong - that that is referring to the use of 3D LUT components with ICC profiles...
Steve
Seriously, that is not even close to acceptable...
:(
Unfortunately the present Eizo calibration is ICC profile based, and suffers with inaccuracy compared to our industry's usual LUT based approach.
Also, their in-built probe is very inaccurate...
Indeed - Eizo are presently not suitable for grading...
But, we are under NDA with Eizo... can't say more at the moment, other than to say their in-built calibration is a major part of the...
Thanks - fixed!
Yep, they are doing it wrong, and many are looking for alternatives as they have now realised the serious problems ABL generates...
We get a lot of calls from customers trying to use plasmas for...
Just posted this on another thread, but it's valid here too.
Plasmas are not at all ideal for grading due to ABL.

RED decode on Mistika is real-time without the use of any RedRocket cards... must be something wrong with that system?
You'll find that a lot harder than you think... Charts do not contain enough data for accurate LUT generation.
MatchLight uses all the pixels within a sequence of images to generate very accurate...
I've never been a fan of Eizo displays for anything other than GUI use - certainly not for main colour work.
The in-built calibration is not very accurate, and the probe is of rather low quality.

Hi Björn,
We'll get some figures to you shortly...
Liam, yep, if you make sure all ICC colour management is off, and EDID is managed correctly, HDMI is perfectly accurate.
SpaceMatch DCM is a...
Nope - but I know Nick well - a great guy!
:yesnod:
The i1D2 was always wide gamut...
It's all based on the filters used in the probe.
Remember this display is for 'print' applications - a very different level of accuracy compared to that needed in...
Mike, the eeColor software has nothing to do with Light Illusion.
That is eeColor's own software, again as it says on the web page...
Try looking at the actual Light Illusion software pages?...
Mike, indeed a lot of the Light Illusion software tools are Windows as that is the most used OS in this industry... But, we are working on MAc and Linux versions for those software programs that are...
Hi Björn, the obvious is you use an external LUT box to control the image via a calibrated LUT.
If using HDMI, as I suspect you are, the eeColor LUT box with LightSpace CMS Quick Profiling would...
We've never tested those displays, but AdobeRGB is not a very useful colour space, and the probe is a very old X-Rite i1D2 model, and was never that accurate.
What I would be interested in finding...
Thanks for the comment Mark.
Actually, LightSpace CMS is probably the most widely used colour managements system in the industry at the moment.
And we do also provide full film lab profiling to...
Hi Daniel, you really need to use a calibration system that has a 'Display Independent Profiling' mode...
This is explained on the Light Illusion website - obviously based around LightSpace CMS.

If it helps we have done a lot of display calibration, and we really, really do not recommend Plasmas for any form of colour critical work - due to ABL issues.
there is more information on that...
