The coolest thing about this firmware upgrade is that it appears that Canon is actually listening to it's clients.
Can't wait to get my hands on this firmware.

The concept of Red is owner-operator.
The essence of the Revolution is to try to change the industry from rental based to owner-operator based.
As far as the Red One is concerned, it seems to...
Welcome to the internet.
This generally comes under the banner of SEO.
Whole companies are devoted to generating this stuff.
This forum is definitely heavily censored.
You hardly ever ramp in-shot anymore.
It's better to just shoot it all fast and take the frames you don't need out in post.
I'd be doing that for your wire rig shots.
How can it be a DSLR killer if you can't get it at B&H and Adorama?
Isn't it not for sale, because they haven't finished building it yet?
Isn't it still three years away from being ready for sale?
Panavision have had Red One's from very early on.
Lots of cameras, both PL and PV mounted.
It wouldn't surprise me if they were Red's single biggest client.
They are Arri's biggest client.
Maybe RED can buy the sensors from Panavision and put them into cameras, so that they can have a HDR camera too?
As I understand it, the sensor is available for sale from Panavision SVI.
On-Sensor HDR
Panavision have lenses without coatings for rent also.
Yeah, fine for owner/operators to still use, but almost impossible to dry hire.
I though it was openly stated that one of the main goals for RED was to change the industry from rental to owner/operator?
Panavision has quite a few 50mm T1.0 lenses (the f-stop is less than 1.0 on these lenses as far as I know).
Standard 16 is 10.26 x 7.49 so it is a fair bit smaller than 16mm.
Much closer to 2/3"
You might want to monitor the audio though.
Not even Red claims that Redcode is lossless.
Fixed?

On-chip HDR is coming:
High Dynamic Range Sensor
I think you have to pay a licensing fee for this, so it may not happen?
Because PL lenses won't cover the format.
Ambitious.
That's an awful lot of product lines.
Have any big movies actually been shot on a Red One yet?
I mean A unit, not just visual effects?
There is no conspiracy, it's just that the hype and fanboyism and reality don't match yet.
...
There is a Canon AC power supply, it's called an ACK-E6.
Also you can get just the dummy battery on it's own which is a DR-E6, if you want to rig-up your own power supply.
I don't understand...
What are the numbers for feature films shot on Red Vs Genesis?
Despite a suggested 5,000 cameras there seems to be hardly any features shot on RED including a grand total of zero really big...
