Guilty as charged, haha. Glad you like the Zoom Nick. It's one of my fave's.

So far in The Contax Survival Guide, what we don’t have is an organized recommendation of what lenses to get. So here’s a quick tour of what’s available.
Here goes:
THE CONTAX “Standard...
It's funny, a lot of people end up getting both. But you're right, there isn't that much of a difference btw the two, except the extra 1/2 stop on the prime. The 2.8 also has a bit less distortion on...
Hey guys, here's an Army Wives "Dr.Scholls" branded spot starring Brooke Shields and other members of the AW cast. Shot on a Scarlet, and...of course...some Contax Zeiss glass (the 85mm "Super...
Mike it sounds like you've made up your mind! Unless your asking us to convince you otherwise, I think you've already made a decision about what is...and is not... worth your investment.
I...
Mike, if the 5D RAW became reliable, then sure I'd consider it as a B-Cam, of course. Every tool as it's place.
But on our jobs, we will continue to rely on 4k, bare minimum.
The spot below is...
My concern right now is the reliabilty of the 5D on a 12hr shoot, not how it looks. And I need 4K. Not 1080. And I need slo-mo.
So the epic is still checking a lot of boxes for me.
Dragon...
Several reasons come to mind:
1) Slow-Mo
2) 5K Delivery
3) Dependability (how long can you shoot RAW on a 5D iii?)
4) File Sizes (how large are the RAW 5d file sizes? Epic is COMPRESSED Raw)...
These lenses def look good. They have character. One of the last untapped rivers of lens GOLD.
The bokeh is lovely Ben.
Wow. Holy shit. The "mythical" 18 2.8 and 25 1.4!!!!!
I've only "heard" of these, never seen pics before. Thanks for sharing Andre!! Why these never went into production, we can only imagine. Too...
Yeah Minolta Rokkor's and FD's are the last two great sets of lenses that can still be plundered.
Looking good!
Not sure. Sometimes people just forget. A friend of mine is a pretty well known VO artist in NYC, and he did all the "period" radio voices for a very well known, very big budget period movie that I...
It's not a Zeiss Mutar no, so hard to predict how well it will do with the 300 f4. The Mutars are specifically designed to work with Contax glass.
That being said, I've LEITAXED all mine, so...
Bear in mind this optical converter places additional GLASS between the lens and the sensor, so expect to see some optical degradation and light loss when you use it...which is why generally they are...
Agreed.
Looking good! Loved the naturalism, yes. Those K35's I'm sure helped with that. Great job as always. Very cool. Very sweet, too.
Hey guys, fellow reduser Steve Das shared this with me:

This is a commercial shot on Alexa with Cooke S4 primes (A-Cam), that is intercut with a BMCC shooting Contax...
I work the night shift cutting promos, so in general, my sleep schedule is FUCKED. I don't get home till 3-4am. I watch a shitty movie till 5 or so (and ask myself..."what filters are they using?"),...
Yeah I noticed that too. Still looks push pull to me. If they'd solved that, I think it would be a big leap forward.
Anyone know how their re-housings work for primes?
Looking good!
BTW Uli, I'm loving this guide! Starting to build my own Rokkor collection. It's giving my father and a lot to talk about (he has an impressive collection of Rokkors himself, that he just shot a...
Sounds good Shervin. Looking forward to it!!
PS...I hear you, the Contax Zooms are almost all excellent...if only the mechanics were a bit better for video! They'd be amazing. Can you imagine not...
GOOD LUCK!!!
