IDK...this does look noisy to me:

but it's because the blacks are raised (16-235 instead of 0-255?).

Now it doesn't:
I only use NLEs with cm/cprofile immunity, hehe.

What do you mean "RAW"? RAW like undebayered and "ISOless" etc. - through HDMI? That even possible?
Thanks, Rand, for posting these! Gotta watch me some tube.
Yep. It's because of the filtration - you loose light on the way in, the S/N ratio drops a notch, then at the development stage the signal gets pushed a bit. It's said with STH - ISO 500. Or so. ...
Hm...it does look a bit noisier than usual, for ISO 800, to me. But then again, for STH OLPF - not that much. I'd also say that you are a stop under. Or so.
Did you use any filtration in front of...
Hi, Benjamin!
Could you repeat this test, but this time:
- Record at REDcode 5:1, not REDcode 12:1
- Record 8K, not 6K
- Record 24 fps, not 60 fps
See how it goes. :smile5:
Let's hear the man:

Squzeme, I ain't got nothing to do with physics, it's all devilry! I only deal in wonders and miracles, thankyouverymuch!
And where's that newton thing when you need one...pufff
Um, external recording/monitoring unit?
Or as Phil already said, and I paraphrase don't shoot like this, people.
I mean, it's ok to "have" some frames overexposed, even by 10+ stops, (think sudden light bursts such as search lights or...

How do you like this, Karim?

I know.
Unfortunate that it took an David to get an answer - from you.
(David, please don't get mad at me for using your name like this, it's all educational purposes )
Brian,...
See, Brian, to David you listen!
Thanks, David!
First off, I aint him.
Second off, I don't believe in trolls. Sometimes.
That's what I'm worried about.
Dang...
It sure works with 100 ASA film, no one ever said it wouldn't, but
Hm, you're talking about determining the proper exposure then all of a sudden you go with 100 ASA...
No, we don't know the ASA, we're yet to determine it. Why would one choose 100 ASA as a base...
Well, it's how middle gray value is derived - you measure total dynamics, then you cut that in half. Put an ISO/ASA number next to it and there you go, film or sensor. :smile5:
With all due respect, with total dynamics of 20 stops it means exactly that.
I thought middle gray is ASA/ISO value where you have equal latitudes under and above. Because - middle.
What happens if you use 50 ASA film? And what with ASA 1600? Think that with 1600 ASA...
May be interesting to you, Karim.
Thanks, Jason!
