beautiful texturing...is that subsurface scatter I see in the wings?
If you don't have access to any kind of equipment, I recently went up in a helicopter in New York. I shots at 30 fps with 24fps timebase. I shot at a very high shutter, at least 1/240. I then just...
Jesus I looked up the price for an 800 and my butt twitched....$6,000 for one 800 watt light? common....
I love the Dell 2711 monitor. From my understanding it is true 10 bit. Some people don't like the matte finish. They say its grainy but it doesn't bother me. The newer versions of the...
Yeh mine blows at infinity...its pretty much unusable...I've tried adjusting backfocus but It never gets sharp...Sharp as a tack when I'm not at infinity though...
looks amazing as always Matthew. Keep it coming!
did you do the compositing/vfx?
I'm having such a hard time deciding without seeing what dragon is capable of. It would be nice to hear from Red how long they are going to offer the Scarlet to Epic upgrade. I would hate to wait for...
I would rather red take their time to get things perfect, rather than to rush their product. Red has a lot of competition now. The Dragon sensor will hopefully put the Epic at the top of the list in...
You'll have to be more specific. Are you looking for a company to set up and shoot the green screen shots or a company to render/ composite the visual effects shots?
Sounds great! Can't wait to take a class!
I color graded my last short in Adobe SpeedGrade via EDL and R3D's. I swear my footage came out cleaner than I've ever seen it. I don't have any tests to prove that the images are cleaner. Just how...
Windows
Why don't you do what most professionals that I know of did, and just switch to Windows 7. Embrase it, Love it, its kick ass, its fast, its reliable. It blows me away how many people do just what...
I thought it was stunning! wonderful look. I can't wait to see the first film shot on Red with the new global shutter mount.
I really just wanted to thank Red, and Red Support for their amazing service.
Without divulging too much information. Recently I was put in "the worst case senario". Where most companies would...
Was apple even at NAB?
I am well aware of that. The reason why I told him to export to EXR is because I get better results when keying the footage compared to using the raw R3D's to key off of.
OpenEXR is a commonly used format in the VFX industry. The Epic/Scarlet have 16bit RAW. So the best way to maintain as much data/precision as possible when transcoding to another format would be to...
In my experience, I have found that encoding to an openEXR format for greenscreen shots instead of working off of the raw footage will get better results. Just my experience I don't know why that is.
I've heard of them issuing replacement bodies over the period of time that the camera is in service. Was that not an option?
I run into similar issues on my PC when exporting h.264 out of Premiere. It looks different in every player that I view it in, ex ( windows media player, quicktime, vlc. I have not found the fix for...
I wasn't aware that Redcine X was used as a final color grading tool. I always thought of it as a first looks and intermediate rendering program. If it were me, I would take the time to learn a...
That is at FF, meaning when your using the 1.9:1 aspect of the sensor, I believe if you switch to 2.4:1 you will get the frame rates that your expecting
I agree that Scarlet D has its advantages and seems like a great deal...but I will be choosing the Epic MX upgrade due to the face that I now own their flag ship that can then be upgraded to full...
