Combines scorched earth tactics, with a dashing of a CFIUS backed 'suppress' competition agenda.
If the new administration reverses these brazen lamp duck actions in 2021_Q1 -...
As TB3, and even TB4, have Bandwidth Limits and Latency issues that (seriously) impact performance - Apple are likely neutering this avenue;
If people need more power - Apple are going to have to...

If the design & development costs at 5nm is 300-500 million dollars per SoC - could Apple turn a profit if they created a distinct Mac Pro desktop chip in addition to a new chip for their top of the...
Results Slots : 12 encircled numbers

Just a reminder for people see options to upgrade to 'macOS Big Sur'
If Apple have followed through on locking down kernel extensions (that Reds Rocket X drivers use) -
you are likely to find...
Although added in v0.6 - I had not given any details on how to use the Fan Noise tool.
• Added : Fan Noise Analysis subsystem added.
+) This what created the graphics in the MONSTRO FAN thread...
The M1 is designed around a GPU ceiling - met by an integrated GPU with a high speed (and very low latency) fabric.
It may be an exemplary design to minimise the average power consumption - but is...

It will be fascinating to see if Apple ‘allows’ an Infinity fabric to continue into is AppleSilicon Mac Pro’s - or replaces it with alternative (open or closed) standard.
With Nvidia promising to...
Thanks Phil,
It sounds like a Blimp is the established way of dealing with unwanted sound (and something I will definitely consider).
I was hoping to develop a portable compact (metamaterial)...
Pat,
When looking at the way the ADAPTIVE algorithm elects to play table tennis with the FAN SPEED - it looks like RED Very Rapidly slow the fan speed when the SENSOR is BELOW the TARGET TEMP. ...
The following was a test without (RED) and with (GREEN) 80mm NB-1 fan at 12V and the internal Monstro FANs at 20%.
In a nutshell :
+) With just the Monstro fans at 20% - the sensor temp creeped...
Here is the comparison of:
+) RED : Monstro with no attachments
+) YELLOW : Monstro + HOOD + CHIMNEY
+) GREEN : Monstro + HOOD + CHIMNEY + BlackNoise_FAN at Max Speed
What is impressive with...
Pat,
My guess is that majority of fan companies do not prioritize silence at low speed, and are only interested in air movement and pressure.
Eg : The Blacknoise PM2 is a 40x40x20 mm fan vs the...
To directly compare improvements there is a 'Baseline' mode. The Bare camera is plotted on the X axis, and the Y axis compares noise levels.
What can be seen by the following is that the MONSTRO...
.. And so rather than spend hours trying to manually setup each fan speed, measure the response, collect, tabulated and put into Numbers, I created a Fan Noise testing harness so that everyone...
Hi Pat,
As always you are always ahead of me!
Here is the Hood that I created to help me understand the contribution of unwanted sound from RESONANCES through the top plate:

Thanks for the insight on hush boxes and suggest colour investigations Phil.
+) In your own testing - did you reach an ideal temperature for your camera's sensor?
+) Quiet Komodo : That's great...
My thoughts (Speculations) at this point were:
+) MONSTRO EXAUST : The TURBULENT sound where the AIR comes out of the MONSTRO exhaust - is likely caused by a RIGHT ANGLE in the AIR PASSAGE...
Using a CALIBRATED MICROPHONE - I then tabulated a wide range of Audio DB levels at different FAN SPEEDS (20%-100%),
using a variety of combinations of the above ATTACHMENTS, and a few more items...
To investigate the root cause of the FAN NOISE, a few random attachments were created to to attach to FAN INTAKE holes - to SUCK the air away from the camera.
+) CHIMNEY PIPE - Suck un air from...
Even with the Monstro SENSOR CALIBRATED to 46 deg C - fan noise was AUDIBLE when the camera was NEAR the subject.
+) In ADAPTIVE mode - a rapid ramp up to 30-40% would usually 'mess up' the sound....
In earlier Monstro sensor testing, SENSOR NOISE vs SENSOR TEMP was compared :
+) The MONSTRO sensor has minimal noise AT or HOTTER than the Target Temperature that the sensor was Calibrated at.
