What version of colour science is being applied? I am transcoding r3d into dpx using REDline via the command line.

The footage is r3d from a camera with these specs:
Camera model is EPIC-M
Camera model ID is 4
Sensor name is MYSTERIUM-X S35

The software is REDCINE-X Pro Build 17.26547 with REDline installed. Entering 'redline' on the command line shows the version in use.
REDline Build 17.26547 Mac 64bit Public Release

Using R3DSDK version 4.5 build 21A02 dated 20130130

REDline says it is using R3DSDK, and the R3DSDK used is from Jan 2013, which seems recent enough. So my guess is colour science 3.

But the REDline options show this:

Code:

--colorSciVersion <int> - Color science version: current version=0, version 1=1, version 2=2 [default = 0]
Note: the current version will always be used if the clip was created with a Mysterium-X sensor or later

Because the footage is from a Mysterium-X sensor it will always be the current version. But note that it only lists versions up to version 2. Is the current colour science version in REDline version 2 or 3?

The latest post I could find relating to REDline and colour science is from 2010. Which seems too old.

On the same machine, I'm working side by side, with two versions of redcine-x " build 17 and build 18, ALPHA versions. Well, it seams to me that the new version playback much slower then the previous one, at the same resolution.

Also, i noticed that on the 18, at every small step of colour correction, like just a touch at the colour wheels, Red cine would take a moment to buffer and show me the result, even at 1/8 resolution... ( this never happened with the previous versions, since at least the 16)

I don't own yet a red rocket, but until now, playing back at 1/4 and letting it buffer a good 1/2 and then play it back was good enough to check the footage and colour correct quickly.

Am I missing something? anybody experiencing the same issue?

if the previous versions of the program seamed to be somehow conciliating with the fact that i don't have a red rocket installed, now I can hear the current version slowly - but distinctively - whispering to my ear "just buy one dude..!"

Im probably missing something but i dont really understand. I am a beginner and so far red cine -x was a powerful tool to check my footage, to play it back, cut it and to add some colour corrections, comfortably, even without a red rocket. is this willing to change in future?

Perhaps there's a good technical reason why not... I'd like to hear it if there is, as it seems to be effective on the Phase One.

Hiya,
I'm using (or trying) to use Redcine in a similar way that Lightroom works. That means I may adjust the whitebalance and then I want it changed for many clips. However I can't find a paste look that works on multiple clips. Does this feature exists?

On another note, do you guys use trimming to save space by cutting out areas that are not useful. It seems useful to do this but it has to be very reliable of course.
Thanks!

Just about to start a pretty lengthy job where I will be working to match other clips not shot on the Epic, shot at 29.97/30fps (video) and will be shooting some b-roll and other stand alone work on the Epic with many different frame rates. From Slow mo all the way down to long exposure time laps.

The question: is there any frame rate converter in RC-X pro? And would there be any advantage to shooting at 24fps project setting and converting with a 3:2 pull down to match the 30 fps video clips that the Red camerawork would go next to. Other than the obvious more light and a smoother look when shooting at a 24 fps project setting?
Seems to me it might just be adding another layer of work with almost little or no visual difference unless shooting at or close to the 24fps project setting.

If I pull the same material into REDCINE X and put the same settings DNXHD 36 and batch it it takes 16 hours.

I notice in my task matanger that media encoder uses aprox. 80% of my CPU and most of my RAM, REDCINE X uses 23% of my CPU and 10% of my RAM, whats up with this? Any way to allocate more power?

Also I am assuming at this point that REDCINE X is not using any cuda cores either or?
Any input much appreciated
