RED is great but does that mean in this forum one should not refer, discuss or mention other competitive gear? Is RED really that nervous, paranoid or controlling?

As I said, I'm new (evidenced by thread #1 here) I'm just trying to understand the rules here and what my expectations should be.

With zero discussion allowed regarding other gear this forum has much less value to me.

Am I completely off base? If I am that's fine, I just need to know the true objectivity level of this forum.

I definitely don't mean to cause a stir, I'm just trying to figure out the value and validity of this forum as a newbie.

I placed a call into Red, and after some trouble shooting determined that the card was in fact faulty, I expected at least a week to turn this around, but true to Red being a company for working class people, they had a new card sent out to us today.

I'm sure that Red has many stories like this, but this has been my experience from day 1 (camera #72 to be exact), and they continue their excellence right through to now.

given the new info on the SSD side port option on the upcoming Epic/Scarlet cameras, I don't really see the point in even bothering with a CF module for Epic (read Epic/Scarlet if you wish).

I'd like to see, out of curiosity and for Red's purposes, how many of you plan to use CF cards with Epic given the new 1.8" SSD mag system and the limitations CF cards would entail (plus the fact Red are no longer making CF cards for Red cameras).

Personally, I think it would be better to simply offer the 1.8" SSD side port as standard, which would give Red the economies of scale to not need to charge extra for building them, and NOT have a CF option at all since it imposes so many limitations, is a dead tech according to Jarred and actually holds the system back.

So your thoughts - will you ever use a CF card with Epic or will you simply go the SSD route and never look back if it were the standard port on the Epic body?

just trying to pick your brain on a strange situatuin I found myself in.
In March of this year I looked at that page that was linked to the Epic picture on the front page. It was saying that the stage 2 reservation for the Red One owners will have a substantial discounts. So, I registered on this site and ask other members, my posts must be still here. But didn't get a difinitive answer, and before buying 2 cameras for a stereo setup I made a phone call to the Red customer service, but some girl replied that such a reservations were expired in February and I am late with such reservation.
Now I am back from Europe and see that this offer experation date was May 5th, much later than my phone call, and the girl at Red simply didn't know what she was talking about.
Do you think they record the phone calls, and I can prove that I called before the offer was expired and get that offer, so, I will buy 2 cameras now and will get my discount with the Epic's?
I know it's a long shot, but it doesn't feel right when an employee misinforms you about such an important issue.
