Was on a corporate shoot over the last few days and the audio coming out of the headphone jack would always cut off some after the camera was turned on and in standby mode (would work for maybe 10 minutes then cut out completely - never had this issue with any of my Scarlets) . The camera still recorded the sound though (verified) but I'd have to restart the camera each time to get audio back on the headphone jack. Must have restarted the camera a few dozen times during the shoot which was quite annoying. Anybody else experience this? I just got my Epic a few weeks ago so it's new.

Hi there,

We have massive problems with our RED Epic on a big budget TV-movie at the moment.
When we try to enter the in-camera playback mode, the camera crashes. After a restart we are able to enter the playback mode but the camera freezes again after going back to record. We habe to restart every te we want to switch the mode.

The problems startes to occure today. We are running build 4.0.10 on a quite new Red Epic with the Pro I/O module.

Any ideas what the problem could
be?

I use my Scarlet primarily with my TVlogic 5.6" LCD through SDI. Today the SDI connection seemed a little finicky and was dropping out, and at some point the camera did a weird thing where the image had a big green box in it but the overlays still looked fine. I rebooted the camera figuring that usually works when the camera has given me graphical errors in the past, and now the SDI port on my Scarlet does not seem to work at all. This is a big problem, since Scarlet HDMI with the TVlogic takes 20 sec to detect Scarlet's HDMI output any time I change display modes, unplug BNC, reboot, etc. This is definitely a big problem since SDI output is quite critical and I doubt this is an inexpensive fix if it is a hardware issue. I tried wiggling the connector and I tried testing all my cables and my monitor and the cables and monitor clearly work since they instantaneously accept and display the signal from my FS700's SDI output. The SDI port on my Scarlet seems to be completely normal physically, no wiggle, no damage, and no visible issue with the center pin. The SDI port seems very robust and on my setup is fairly hidden and well protected by other hardware on my rig so it seems pretty unlikely there was much strain on the port. And SDI clearly worked last time the camera was being used. I did a hardware rediscover and switched firmwares and changed modes on the SDI output and none brought the image back up. What the heck is going on with my SDI? Any suggestions?

Hi
I am having problems mounting Redmags on Mac OS 10.7.5.
The first SSD I put in the Redstation mounts fine.
Then I unmount it and put a different SSD in the Redstation, but it won't mount on the desktop.
I have to go to disk utility which lists the previously mounted mag greyed out.
If I then right click and select 'mount drive' the newly mounted SSD appears on the desktop.
Doing this every time is a minor hassle.

I only noticed the problem after updating RX to v17.2
Could it be related to Redwatchdog, or is it the Mac OS?
Any better workaround or advice is appreciated.
Thanks

Hello people,

We shot a project some days ago. The hard drive used for the first back up was kinda slow, it would take more than 45 minutes to offload a 64 GB ssd.
When we tried to playback some files from the drive in RedCine-X the software would say material "offline" and it wouldn't playback. This happens only for some of the takes. Others are fine.
The data is there but we have all these playback problems.
If we move the files out of their folder we can play them. More precisely (most of the takes are long so they are composed by several single files) In order to have playback we have to move every single file of the same take to different folders, then we can play each one of them singularly. If the files of the same take are positioned in the same location/directory in the computer (even on the desktop, but together) we can't play them and there is no way to use the content, redcine and any other editing software won't see them.

Thank you for your help...

***Problem Solved--thanks Eric Young!***

Hi guys,

So I'm finally directing my first low budget feature film next month, and the production would like to use my Red One MX. When I was shooting some scenes against a plain white backdrop this week, I noticed a purple looking haze in the image. At 320 iso it wasn't too noticeable, but when I dropped it down to 50 iso in REDCINE-X it's very obvious. It also starts to bleed through when I start color grading. Has anyone encountered this problem before? I'm shooting on the latest non-beta firmware for the R1, with Canon L glass and a Birger Canon mount. I use the same glass on my 5d Mk II and have no such problems. We start production in one month so I've got to get this problem figured out ASAP. Please, any advice anyone has would be most appreciated. Thanks everyone!

Christopher
I've unplugged LCD and when I plug it back in I get a quick white flash. I detached side handle and cleaned it as well.

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone might be able to shed some light on a small problem:

On our last shoot we ended with a sunset shot. The subject was wearing a lot of yellow, plus the sunset on the beach so it was a predominantly yellow-orange shot. When we brought it back to the studio we saw quite a bit of noise throughout the picture. I'm assuming it's because the blue channel is being strangled and that's where we're getting the blue noise. But on the other hand I've done quite a lot of sunset yellow shots and have not noticed this problem.

I have a feeling that it might be a black balance problem, but I'm not sure. So I just wanted to check if anyone else has experienced this.

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Cheers!

The Bolt unit does skip around wireless frequencies automatically so not sure if this is colliding with where the Epic is looking for a Redmote? We've reinstalled firmware and still the problem crops up occasionally.

Separately seem to have an issue with the Bolt where it doesn't recharge its internal battery while it is in use, but that's a problem for Teradek....
If anyone else is seeing this with the Bolt let me know?
